Vray flicker free

Post by raytracer on Mon Jun 29, 2009 12:01 pm

Mga vray masters. Baka may advise kayo how to get flickerless render from vray with moving objects. not static walkthrough. peace man so far ito ang drawback ng gi rendering.
I made a simple test on my own di ko pa rin matanggal gi flicker especially sa corners. Post ko scene file for those interested to test the scene and to compare render time. Laughing

http://rapidshare.com/files/249811308/vrayanimationtest.zip.html

max file with moving objects in a kernel box
vrayhigh - medium prepass, high lightcache no mb. 3:20min per frame.
vraylowmb - high prepass, low lightcache with motion blur. 1:20min per frame
test00- ibang renderer gamit ko. 2min per frame

used my qc6600 for testing.

raytracer sa vray SP1.40 SP3a we're using the prepass+animation method.

if you're familiar with this, ito ung irerender mo muna ung IR maps + light cache maps before rendering the final image. previous vray releases we had to do this manually pero sa new version madali na lang.

here's also a link to the tutorial:

@torvicz

ung brute force nasa secondary bounce option - it used to be the old QMC secondary bounce, which is longer but of course is meant for animation. sa bagong release ung animation (prepass) + animation (rendering) fixes that flicker issue, easier to set up, unlike before na u have to do the settings manually. in this case we tried the LC option and it works just fine.

Brute force is quasimontecarlo.
That's fail proof GI but then again - it takes time to render.

by the way i looked at the animation tests done by raytracer - by walkthru standards these are acceptable however if you really want super no flickers - QMC is the way to go.

Re: Vray flicker free

Post by raytracer on Mon Jun 29, 2009 1:44 pm

mushroom - tnx for looking at the file:D . I did use that method pero siguro mababa pa pala setting. Sinet ko irr to high with anim prepass with lightcache 1000 single pass. After calculating switched to anim rendering map and lightcache map. I got the tip from Vitamins thread pero qmc gamit nya with anim prepass medyo mabagal so I used lightcache.
Anyway what settings are recommended?
Ung file na upload ko is brute force pala. Weeh.

v_wrangler - anong filesharing pwede dyan? Very Happy

Here's the file I made to make the videos. ung may gi flicker sa shadows.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/ag964ed/n/vrayanimationtest_zip

Added
zanimation00 max file with irr and lightcache method.
zanimation max file is brute force.

Btw, max 9 with vray rc 5 ung nagawa ko. Try ko sa ofis with max 2009 and vray sp3 and upload it for those with access to vray sp 3. Very Happy

How to achieve good render times with same quality as test00.mov?

Tnx vertex. try the new link nandun ung anim prepass/lc method. Disect it, explode it. I'm sure meron talagang way na mawala ung shadow flicker. I just don't know how Crazy_Lion Baka pag uber high setting mawala na sya bounce

Re: Vray flicker free

Post by mushroom on Mon Jun 29, 2009 2:12 pm

nay mataas tlga settings na kelangan mo raytrace, kung pang broadcast to. sa walkthrus kasi severe ang flickering hehe - so a medium setting with LC as 2ndary bounce ok na. otherwise i dont know any method for shorter render times and 100% flicker free.

ill leave it to sensei vertex - let's see what he says. take it away roy
