Post by reeze on Wed Jul 21, 2010 2:36 pm

Need help with specs. i was wondering if is it really worth going i7 980x for cpu. worth kaya yun performance regarding the price? i7 980x is priced $1160 while i7 930 is $328. wanted to try dual i7 too but i dont know if theres a mainboard that supports it. i heard its for xeon only. should i go with this spec for rendering?

i guess hindi siya practical, sa laki ng price difference niya, marami ka ng mabibiling ibang parts, i dont know kung ilan percent ang bilis ng i7 980x sa i7 930, pero ask your self kung kailangan mo ba talaga ng i7 980x, ngayon kung wala kang problema sa budget, then go for 17 980x,

if your planning for i7 980x, better find a good gpu also... 980x together with the pro vcard fx5800 will be better, right investment no compromise...

just make sure u can maximize the capacity of that rigs... thumbsup

kung hindi ako nagkakamali bro,
980x is rendering in 12 buckets while 8 ang 930
980x yata is at 3.2 or 3.4 Ghz compare it to 930 which 2.8 sya.. (no overcloking)

well lamang talaga ang 980x sa speed..

but wow,. what kind of speed are you looking for, ang bilis na ng 930..
kung practicality, 980x has a small difference in rendering speed comparing it to the big price difference on 930..

if your looking for speed, i7 930 can already give you that speed..
but if your work discipline is as heavy as sir vitamins (na nka intel i7 940, difference is 940 is 2.99ghz while 930 is 2.8) na super multi tasking, rendering 2 heavy animations at the same time while doing some video editing on after effects at the same time na nakabukas ang PS and some web browsers na nagdodownload pa ng torrent, i think go for 980xtreme..

Well there are other processors in between 930 - 980x like the 940..

sana makatulong bro..
i just bought my PC kasi last week so medyo nagkaroon ng konting information about these stuff..
di lang ako sure kung tama lahat ng info..

to your question pla, i havent tried intel 980xtreme, but i think its worth the price for its performance...hindi naman magbibigay ng ganyang price ang intel kung hindi ganun kalupit ang performance..

the question now is, is it worth for you?

@ kekiko - 6 cores / 12 threads na kasi ang 980x kaya mas mabilis siya talaga,

@ TS - may nabasa ako sa internet na i7 980x is not yet worth buying kasi nga masyado pa siyang mahal,

di praktikal ang 980x. napakalaki ng price difference nila, you said that it doubles the speed of 930 in which I wouldn't agree on that. Even if it is true. i7 930 is just roughly P14k and 980x is P50k+ if I am not mistaken. not even equivalent to a double price of 930. Instead, buy other parts of your PC that will help your rendering such as additional RAM, SSD (Solid State Drive), Quadro series of NVIDIA, or if not, 400 series.

tapos yung matitira (kung meron pa) pambili mo ng bling bling, like additional fans, better casing, better cooler, etc.

HTH!

For me if you have a budget go for it. in a long run you can save time, energy, electric bell. if you have 800 watts power supply consuming 4 hrs a day within one month and become a year malaki then yun..by using i7-980x or 990x you consume 2 hrs a day of 800 watts. mas makakatipid ka. were talking long term usage.

i7 980x has 6core and 12 threads, i7 930 has 4 core and 8 threads. malaki difference ng performance nila, 980x alot faster.
pero hindi practical ang presyo niya para lang sa rendering, pero kung sa office yan at boss mo ang bibili definetly ang ipabili mo 980x para sa office nyo, pero kung home use lang sayang lang, kung gumagawa ka ng animation as your sideline cguro 980x mas maganda ang piliin mo pero kung 3Drendering ka lang, parang nagtapon ka ng pera . infact any i7 will be fast enough para sa 3Drendering, and kung ayaw mo tlaga ng 930 at nbabagalan ka, ang daming pang i7 choices na mas mabilis sa 930 ang pwede mong iconsider, may i7 950, 960, and 970, yan mga yan will render faster than 930, at sobrang mas mura kumpara sa 980x, infact i use i7950 with 12gig ram memory, sandali lang ang rendering. hindi lang naman processor ang nagpapa bilis sa rendering, memory is a big part also, kesa mag 980x ka pwede mo isave na lang ang budget mo para sa memory, imax out mo ng 24gig panalong panalo yan.
