Re: Jackie Chan caricature
mga bro thank you sa inyong interest sa gawa ko
bro afterdark - i do caricature pretty much the same conventional drawing we do traditionally kaya nga lang ngayon digital na. first i start off with a good reference of the subject, try to gather as may as possible, now google lang ang katapat nyan. then do a sketch of the subject, try to find what makes the subject prominent, e.g. angelina jolie yung lips and the eyes. then draw it loosely based on your reference, medyo hindi pa masyadong radical yung style na ginagawa ko kasi i want to maintain a sort of realism and recognizability sa subject ko. if you visit my blog, meron akong links nung mga caricaturist who i can say are masters when it comes to this craft. anyways, ones you've established the exaggeration you so desire, then start coloring, maganda mag practice muna sa black and white, it's important in my case to identify values, yung level of darkness and lightness nung image, ika nga eh yung "diin" factor. so be aware doon sa mga sulok at singit nung image, where light and shadow matters. now since photoshop naman ang ating main tool, we could easily go ahead and color using color pallete na gusto nyo, in my case ina-eye dropper tool ko yung reference image to grab a color pallete to use in the painting. and since painting style nga ginagawa natin, there's a default brush in psd called "number 24", meron syang sort of oil paint brush effect, but you should go to the psd menu>windows>brushes or F5 to change the settings of your #24brush, in the BRUSH PRESET tab, go to OTHER DYNAMICS, my settings are: "opacity jitter 0%" / "control:pen pressure ON" / "flow jitter 0%" / "control: OFF"
the reason for this setting is habang nagpapahid ka ng paint eh may iba ibang level ng shadings ka na ma-aachieve. also play with the opacity and flow of the brush itself. by the way prerequisite nga pala ang tablet, mine is wacom intous3
then start painting like you would on a real canvas.
share ko narin etong si Jason Seiler, napaka galing na artist. madyo sa kanya ko natutunan yung mga nakwento ko sa inyo.

Thanks Sir Seanmaximus, those tips are really helpful, especially the link (bookmarked)..I use a 4 x 6 wacom bamboo for my renderings. I am always fascinated on how these caricatures are created by artists such as yourself
...Thanks man! Keep em comin'!!
