simply export your sketchup file as .3ds, .dwg/.dxf format then load your exported file to 3ds max but this is only possible when your using the sketchup pro version.

sir mez, matanong lang po, which is better, exporting SU files as .3ds? or importing su files directly in 3ds max? TnA

you can't import/merge directly a sketchup file or .skp file to 3ds max.
the flow goes like this:
1. model your scene in sketchup pro version
2. after modeling your scene go to file toolbar
3. under file toolbar go to export
4. then choose 3dmodel
5. then select a save in path (where you want your model to be saved)
6. enter a file name for your scene
7. choose an export type...it could be .3ds,.dwg,.dxf etc.
8 tick the options tab, just below the cancel button
9.3ds export option window will appear
10. geometry option: select full heirarchy and tick export stand alone edges
materials option: select export texture maps & preserve texture coordinates
cameras option: for me this is optional you can either enable this or not
scale option: if you have already set your units in sketchup then just choose model units and that's it!

now run your 3ds max application

1. go to file
2. import
3. select a file to import
4. file type, if you exported your sketchup scene as .3ds then choose .3ds and after that you can start texturing your scene and render it with vray plugin in 3dsmax.

did you try exporting your sketchup file as .3ds or .dwg format? baka iniimport mo yung sketchup scene directly to 3ds max. base sa error na nakuha mo supported lang hanggang version 7 pero pag sketchup pro ang gamit mo gagana dapat 'yan. pm mo na lang ako sir kapag di mo pa nakuha.

yup sir yan yung bago sa 2011 at pati texture ng SU maaapply mo rin sa 2011. yan kasi gamit ko. model ako sa SU and Import ako sa 2011 for render.

hindi ba complicado ang max 2011 sir? mahirap iinstall sa 64bit OS ko. back to 2009 tuloy ako, na notice ko sa 2011 fit sya sa archshaders. makikita mo lahat mat's. as-in gumagana sya.

Importing Sketchup into 3DS Max is tricky, but can be a key skill once you have mastered it. Personally I have found the easiest way is to use Sketchup Pro and export the 3D model as a .3DS format file and simply import that into 3DS Max.
