Ok got some news. Unleashed the power of your machine using your GPU or say VRAY RT. Got it working in my machine.

HERES is my own test at same scene:

3d max 2010 64 bit and vray sp1.4 = 4 hours

3d max 2010 32 bit vray 2.0 = 1 hour

3dmax 2010 32 bit vray RT 2.0 GPU, engine: open CL : 10mins

How to do it not a rocket science just simple;

also must update your graphic card driver to support open cl.

@Galaites07

Nice! Can you post the actual images that took 4hrs? 1hr? and 10mins? to render. So we can compare. Smile

I have tried GPU before but I still feel more comfortable using cpu rendering. Smile

take that as a no for GPU at this point of time Neutral

Im still busy doing some more test, will post later.

Meanwhile might wanna read this;

On the GPU loop? V-Ray RT GPU beta now available for a speedy
test drive experience

V-Ray RT GPU will become part of V-Ray 2.0 after the beta testing period

The eagerly expected V-Ray RT GPU is now open for beta tests and available for all current users of V-Ray RT for 3ds Max.

V-Ray RT GPU is fully integrated within Autodesk 3ds Max and allows up to 30 times faster rendering and real time interaction with the virtual environment. This highly scalable, production ready rendering solution offers a number of new features like real time shading and lights set-up, distributed and cross platform rendering, progressive path tracing and many others. After the beta testing period, V-Ray RT GPU will become a part of V-Ray 2.0.

If you want to become a beta tester and be among the first to try the new GPU based solution, read more on the beta program here >>

If you currently do not own a V-Ray RT commercial license you can purchase it now and receive a special upgrade price to V-Ray 2.0. Please note that the upcoming upgrade is per V-Ray 1.5 for 3ds Max license and NOT V-Ray RT license.

V-Ray 2.0 for 3ds Max as a complete rendering solution will combine the V-Ray for 3ds Max production renderer, V-Ray RT on CPU and V-Ray RT on GPU. Its official release date is planned for 6th of December 2010.

@Galaites07

I would be happy to do some test for you, I have a commercial vray 2.0 on my max2011. I can use my quadro card to test and post images. It will be helpful to have the same scene kasi to compare systems. I think a thread with benchmarks of a common 3d scene will help this forum. We can post render times on cpu and gpu, it will help future purchases.

-probably a good:idea: thumbsup . Let me finish a free scene i have been working for a while now and we can all benchmark the scene using Vray 2.0 against VRay RT Gpu. Im very eager to see the quadro in action. thumbsup

For now lets just use Vray 2.0 as it is faster than the previous version of vray.

I foresee that this will create a dilemma for people to invest either in Vcard or in CPU. How about Vray integrating both GPU and CPU in rendering system right? Just a thought

Ok, now I just saw the link and apparently the GPU is doing better in the same amount of time. Hmm... I'll try this one in my Max 2009. Do you guys know if it supports SLI or Crossfire?
