fast rendering at the beginning too slow after few renders

Post by arkirein on Sun Apr 24, 2011 7:32 am

Good day po sa lahat ng mga master, I need your help kasi sa umpisa mabilis magrender ang PC ko pero after several views rendered bumabagal siya. at first I was rendering around 20 mins per frame but after rendering several views i was rendering ridiculously 1 hour just less than half of every frame in region rendering.

scene status: autocad linked architectural model + max models for accessories = 2 million poly counts

this is my set up:

1400 x 2000 pixel
AA: adoptive DMC, / catmull rom / min 1, max 4
max tree depth:80
Dynamic memory limit: 8000 mb
default geometry: dynamic

All GIs are saved before the final render.

this is my PC specs:

12 GB ram
NVDIA graphic card
I7 processor

nakakalungkot isipin na Ive got a good rig but low perfomance.
my boss was not happy.

mga masters could you please help me find a solution to this problem.

Laughing

Always restart your max before you render another view.

thank you master. i will check my scene. regarding po dun sa problem na mabilis sa yung mga unang renders but after few views has been rendered saka sya bumabagal ng more than twice its render speed, what do you think is the cause? hindi lang po sa project na to naencounter ko yung ganitong problema kundi sa lahat. that is why nagpost po ako because i was sure na yun nga yung problema kasi common sya sa bawat projects...

One more thing, I usually avoid linking cadd drawings in max. In my experience, nagpapabagal sya at nagpapabigat ng scene...

-follow what sir torvics said
-check your max & vray settings
-check mo rin yung mga model na ginagamit mo & check all your parameters (normally im using poly)
-check all your lights na maraming shadow

Try mo irender yung sinasabi mong view separately. If it will render fast, then there is a big problem. Pero kung slow pa din, then meron something sa scene na heavy on the rendering, it could be a reflective material or a high poly object.

i think this is the culprit.. in my experience nag switch ako from 3ds max 2009 to 2010 para updated pero here's the thing.. just like you've said super bagal nya magrender kahit simple settings even my friend is having problems with rendering that is eating a lot of time doing a low settings render, then i tried to switch back to 3ds max 2009 and found the solution.. so until now i'm still using 3ds max 2009, pero try mo lang naman if ever baka makatulong. But he did not mention that he switched from max2009 to max2010.

In your case dude, you can still use max2010, provided you merge your old file instead of opening it to max2010.
I had the same experience before because I upgraded from max9 to max2010.
Sobrang bagal talaga. But that was solved.

Mag trouble shoot ka dude.

1. override mo yung materials, say white diffuse only.
then render mo, pag bumilis meaning sa materials ang problema mo
pero pag mabagal pa rin....
2. try mo uncheck yung lights mo sa global switches.
pag bumilis meaning sa lighting ang problema...
3. or you may also merge the file to a new one....
do this batch by batch, render each time you merge. minsan may isa
