I'd probably expect a bit of the dragon's reflection on the water surface....
Niceqork though. I was just at the other forum and saw the same thing....

This is your first try right? Awesome work. Love these images and your heading quite a good direction on these.

A few things you might want to watch out in the next few tries if your still interested in matteapaintings...

1. Texture stretching, I see a few in your images
2. Depth, and image saturation (3rd one) very vague and suttle things, makes a huge difference though in the final output.
3. Shadow direction (2 suns) your second work in the building kinda has that.

But still over-all a wonderfully executed artwork. If you labelled these as conceptual artwork, then don't change it. Its already quite good. But as mattepaintings, well still very good with a few little things to tweak, thats all.

cheers man

Usually it starts off like a sketch or concept art, then when your happy with your sketch colored of possible, you look for reference images either sa mga webpage na may libreng images or your own collection. If possible you also create 3D assets. That is if its needed or when the scene is moving. After that you composite all of these elements with taking into consideration the perspective, light, color space, depth, and composition.

In real world application, the most succesfull mattepaintings are the ones that you don't know na mattepainting pala. Like the chase scene sa highway ng transformers or yung patay na devastator or yung scene na nakatali si megatron. Others like yung jungle scene sa The Rundown is also mattepainting.

Sometimes also you can have mattepaintings for 3D games too and animation, like yung background sa hellgate london or ang Paris sa ratatoiue (?)

Hope this helps!
