Nvidia Quadro Mid-Range

Post by chobs on Fri Oct 14, 2011 8:18 am

Ok I need help for those who have the experience here with Quadro's and FireGL.

I am planning to buy a mid-range Professional Video Card because I am so pissed working with my view port whenever it pages or frames especially if there are a lot of geometries and proxies already.

Question is, it is really that of an improvement on viewing the 3D or will it help me in my workflow when modeling significantly as compared to mid-high end gamers video card?

I am not expecting the Quadro to speed up the rendering time. I am expecting it to handle the geometry while I am modeling in a smoother way or some sort.

I am planning to buy Nvidia Quadro 2000 by the way or any item that is within that price range.

Thanks in advance guys.

I thinks you can try first the new 3ds max 2012.. it can handle more than 100Million plus polys & the viewport is still manageable... Im using it now, I remember one project, i had around 200illion polys..

I got my nvidia quadro 4000, previously I have an ATI video card.
I have no clue.

I suggest try mo muna yung advice ni dude mokong, very promising talaga ang max2012 eh. Try mo bago ka bumili. Kasi yung problema kong

Really? I've been using max 2009 for the longest time and tried 2010 and 2011. Medyo disappointed ako sa performance ng UI and navigation and even the loading time. I'll give 2012 this weekend and see how it handles my usual scenes. Thanks for this. thumbsup

I think may driver pa yan for 3ds max that needs to be downloaded in the Autodesk or Nvidia Site. Sayang naman if di ma-uutilize ng mabuti ang quadro. Or also you can use it for RT or GPU rendering natalaga.

Are there any special scripts for optimizing navigation to be specific? Or you just need to hide/unhide, display box or proxy most of the repeated geometry?

Thanks for the advice. I'll give 3ds max 2012 a shot. I am not sure if my Core 2 Quad can still handle it. Hehe...

yes sir.. maganda ang 2012... merong option iyan sir kung gusto mo iyong UI of 2009.. Go to customize and select custom UI and Defaults Switcher.. tapos sa material editor naman you can click modes then select compact material editor.. mahirap kasi yung slate...

Dude chobs, driver installed from NVIDIA.

TY

i tried the "iray" within 2012 pero marami pa ring noise and not to many options ie render elements, but there some articles about a new breed of iray next year, looking forward for it.

Hey guys. I am currently using 3ds Max 2012 and it is so far fantastic!!! Thanks for the help. The navigation is improved a lot here. Although I am a bit disappointed that the default shaded mode is in realistic shade which eats up my Vcard. But this is just minor for I can disable it anyway.

Whew! Can't stop doing 3D now. Galing galing!

Well that's good sir.. in realistic mode try making it ortho or perspective then move it around... Nalimutan ko na ah hehe.. , i think ortho in realistic shade is more handy than persective with realistic shade... Try lang sa dalawa sir..
