wood tutorial?
wood tutorial?
Hello..im new with this whole rendering thing^^...so i wanna make a nice floor and i got some pretty materials...i bet some of u know the arroway textures...but i really dont know whats the best way to create a nice floor...so my question is...is there a little tutorial somewhere with little steps for a good floor?

Use the materials as is. Arroway are really good materials to use.

The standard process (i guess) for using high-resolution textures like the ones Arroway makes is: use the given textures for diffuse, reflect, and bump.
Put the diffuse bitmap in the diffuse slot, put the bump bitmap in the bump slot, and put the reflect bitmap in the reflect slot. That should work well.
If you want more control, you can put additional maps on top of the bitmaps. For example, I always put a Falloff map first before putting the reflect bitmap in the "WHITE" portion of the falloff, and select "fresnel" reflection. This gives me a nice fall-off effect as the view angles away from the wood.
Experiment, nothing wrong with it.
