tiled even if tile is off

Post by darkirender on Fri Dec 09, 2011 9:45 pm

hello guys. i just encountered one problem on the way bitmaps are shown on the viewport in max design 2012. here’s how it happen. with real world textures turned on in preferences, i applied a brick bitmap to a plane 2000mm x2000mm size.show bitmap in viewport ticked. i adjusted the map size to 1000mmx1000mm in the bitmap coordinate rollout. i turned off(unticked) the tile button both on the width and height of the bitmap but then in the viewport the map is still tiled in both directions which is not suppose to be the case. but when i hit render the brick map is not tiled. any idea how to resolve this?

it seems that the tiles is the one active to show material in viewport...go back to your parent material, select diffuse then hit show materials in viewport.

in the old versions of max if you uncheck "tile" in the bitmap coordinate rollout of a particular map it will not be tiled (not repeated in the height and width directions) in your viewport when show map in view port is active. i found out that this feature is not supported by the nitrous viewport the same way as the icon of glu3d that also disappears with the nitrous. the way to resolve this is to revert to DIRECT 3d instead of the nitrous in the "display drivers"" of the preferences in max.
