help in modelling a gridshell structure..

sa 3ds max sana, may nakita na ako sa net through sketchup pero baka mas madali sa 3ds max.thanks in advance Smile

for me i will do the mesh first then weld the vertices to their preferred joints as per your reference... after that, select all the edges and create shape from it... double check the joints again then check the boxes enable in renderer and enable in viewport to adjust the size of the pipes...

Convert your cylinder to editable poly, then shape to desired look and Go to spline sub-object level.

Select all splines by hitting ctrl+a,

Then click on create shape from selection on the modifier tools.

Click or select the shape created or extracted from your polygon, and add a renderable spline modifier. and just dial in your settings or preferences. Play around with the renderable spline settings to get your desired look.

Sir arkied explained it all! I think the diagonal spline was made using twist on the cylinder.
