"Tips n' Tricks on how to speed up rendering"
First topic message reminder :
You might have some tips and tricks on how to speed up your rendering, care to share them with us?
It may be about material set up, lighting set up, or the number of mesh...anything.
Any information regarding this would be a great help not only for me but for all of us here in the community.
I'm hoping you could help...
Thank you in advance...

For Mental Ray user, always convert all texture files in MAP file. That way, Mental Ray won't have to load every texture every time it renders. It will only load the necessary texture that is being seen on the camera. Like for example, when a human model is being rendered but the face is the only area that is visible in the camera and the textures are in Tif, targa or any other image extension, it will load all the data of the texture before it renders. Mental ray can access these .map files in small pieces (or tiles), so it never has to load the entire image into memory. It can be done using the imf_copy.exe in the installed folder of Autodesk maya or XSI. I don't know if its available in MAX.

add ko lang tong tip na ito for those who are not aware, use x64 version to avoid crashes due to insufficient memory. if you are using x86 or 32bit windows then use the 3gb switch to avoid max crash.

ito sir tip ko...
let us all elevate ourselves during the process so will not all end up always to be facing the monitor and rendering.
vray-proxy pa rin sa akin.

Re: "Tips n' Tricks on how to speed up rendering"
pwede bang elaborate ko nalang about proxy?
it only means baka meron pa tayong iba na pwede nating gawin for example in span of 3 years...
example...while others are learning to improve themselves about rendering others improve themselves to be designers...in the end they are not just renderer but designer...and so on and so on.
sir tip ito for all (para lang malinaw) mamaya ma mis-interprete ako.

hehehe dude... master Galaites is like a monk from the highest regions of Tibet... He will give you wisdom... but you have to swim the deepest trenches of the oceans to look for it... and even if you find it, it will still be encrypted in code not even the almighty could crack... hehehehe...

gusto ko pa rin marinig explanation ni master Galaites dito...
for me it seems like a seer's prophecy... i think he's talking about the future here... a device, a gadget or something... (i hope master Galaites is not that cryptic this time...)
if i could picture it in my mind correctly... it's some kind of a device attached to critical points of our brain, wherein we can do "rendering" without the need of a monitor thus elevating the process...
in short, its doing the rendering in your brain, download it to a memory card... print it... email it... etc...
Who needs to face a "monitor" all the time

use of plug-in materials will also accelerate your rendering time.

@silvercrown- use video post when rendering specially interiors with a lot of camera view..automatic continious rendering one camera view to another. save a lot of time specially leave it rendering on its own at night.
