Fernando-Fender Stratocaster Copy

Post by arkiedmund on Sat Feb 07, 2009 7:35 am

I decided to try to model my guitar, a red Fernando Stratocaster Copy. Never thought it would be a very complicated object to model. Hope I can be able to finish this.

some initial screen caps:

And here is the my modeling setup:

Comments and suggestions are welcome, right now I am stuck with modeling the headstock. It's quite difficult with my limited skills in modeling complex objects. But fortunately with your help and direction I can be able to do this.

Thanks in advance....

hi brother ed, nice seeing your eagerness in modelling with this good guitar as the subject...
i'll point some area for you to tweak on (see pic A and B)

open your 3ds max program..
the edge flow is a candidate, the one with red area (pic A) and its a bit mesh up and notice the edge flow with the green highlight its good...solution try to tweak the edge flow with red highlight (pic B) using chamfer with a decent value for alignment... go ahead and try it... but still the red area (pic A) is not good...undo the last task (chamfer)... what you can do now is turn off your mesh smooth and select (pic A) half like in (pic C) and delete it... hit the polygon selection and select (pic C) and mirror the polys to the other side and weld those point on current copied polys... and try to view it again with meshsmooth turn on... it should look good...

post mo rin yung low poly mesh na naka-turn off ang meshsmooth..

hope it helps..

nice tips master dickie....actually, di pareho ang shape niyan sa bottom...hindi kasi flat yan kaya ganun ang result. But still, I will tweak that once ok na lahat ng parts. For now, I am working on shaping the basic elements, para madali na lang later on ang tweaking.

Thank for the very good tip.
