Effective Importing of High Poly Objects to Sketchup

Post by m | 9 z on Sat Feb 21, 2009 6:42 am

hi cgpips, and sketchups users:
mejo maluwag time ko ngaun kya nakaisip magshare ng simpleng trick,
although meron pa sigurong mas madaling paraan dito sa workflow ko.
Export-Import Errors
I. this is the most common pop-up error we see during export from max to 3ds.

II. and this is the usual import result in sketchup.

The Workflow:
A. export the max model to .obj instead of 3ds.
u can specify here what to group in the model upon export, kung by material, etc.

B. Import the .obj file to Cinema4D:
* As much as possible, delete all materials in the scene. (ito ang kadalasang dahilan kung bakit nag-hahang o kaya matagal mag-link o maglagay ng material sa vray, dahil sinusubukan ng vfsu basahin lhat ng parameters ng materials, reflect, refract etc.)

C. Export the file in C4D to 3ds, then import to sketchup.
Here's the result:

*This is just my personal experiences, kung me mas madali po kaung paraan, u could share it too.
Hope this help.

yes sir guru, wala pa kasing lightwave (obj) importer ung skp, so i tried it on c4d..hehe pareho pala kmi ni FA, although me sinasabi cia nun xfrog - c4d - sketchup workflow pero d ko na nasubaybayan. your welcome po. thumbsup

and one thing, me geometry optimization ang Cinema4D, same as polyreducer para malessen ung geometry pag masyado na tlaga malaki ang file. thumbsup

sir guru, ill update you sir (wla ko c4d d2 sa opis meron eheh).
pero here's my theory:
1. export also .mtl file (wavefront material den import sa C4D)
2. relink ung image/texture sa Cinema4D bago export to 3ds.

madali na dn taung mag-apply sa skp ng material since nakgroup by material ung inexport from C4D. thumbsup

na-try ko na import ung file with texture pero nag-eeror cia, (cant create texture material)
sa sketchup na talaga tayo pede sir mag-relink ng image, same principle den ng xfrog, export>obj>c4d>sketchup,
if i got the time again, gawa ako ulit ng xfrog tut sir.. thanks!
