Mental ray sun

Post by logikpixel on Mon Apr 20, 2009 12:07 pm

First topic message reminder :

Mga bro at sis here is a simple tutorial on 3dsMax's "other" render engine - Mental Ray.
This is just a basic tutorial on how to setup Mental Ray sun as the primary light source for an exterior scene render.
You must have Mental Ray as your primary render engine to use this simple exercise.

Step 1. Open your scene.

Step 2. On the Create tab, go to Systems and click on Daylight.

Step 3. A dialog box will pop up asking you to change your Exposure control. Just hit Yes.

You should have something that looks like this.

Step 4. Now go to Modify tab and change your sunlight into mr Sun.

Step 5. Also, change your sky into mr Sky. A dialog box will ask you again like in the image, just click Yes.

Step 6. Now, hit render! This is how it would look like without materials.

That's it.

Here are a few more images from the scene with some materials and some tweaks.

peace man

Very Happy

CAD has a way of inverting faces randomly. Check if inverted ang polyface nung eaves mo. The only explanation I can offer you right now. Hope this helped. Smile

Check your environment. It should read MR skylight. Read the tutorial on setting up mr sun and sky here on the mental ray forum of our site. Try setting up a new scene, if you encounter the same problem, consult our tutorials. Smile
