very realistic animation. galing! you've got an excellent team. namaster nyo na talaga vray flicker problems. are you using irr/lightcache or quasi/lightcache, mode single, animation prepass? laki ata renderfarm nyo to pull this off in 3 weeks.

Cubio boy: hehehe...dont know if its andrew...alam mo na style dito..hindi ka i-introduce sa client..takot cla na baka sa empleyado lalapit ang client or i-underground...hehehe..your always left in the dark...

Kurdaps: waaaahhhh...25m dirhams....bilhin nlng kaya nila ang pilipinas? hehe...

Raytracer: thank you very much...really glad you liked it. I wish we mastered the vray flicker problems...but we still encountered them...good thing about this project was we were lucky they were minor...same reason why we decided on holding mostly static cameras. for this project we did try using a different method...its not the best method coz of the long render time, we used the Irr/quasi....and used the new render animation(prepass) which saves the irradiance every frame on separate file each...after the prepass, we loaded the irradiance via Animation(rendering) and set secondary bounce to none because it was already computed together with the irradiance....We have a good render farm in our china office...on difficult scenarios, we resort to hiring a render farm company to render the set.

this was particularly a difficult project because at the same time it was an experimental project...we really wanted to loose the flicker and splotches...we already knew that if we use the IRR/LC combo(our standard procedure), it would definitely cause more flicker and black splotches...patching it up would even be worst because of the limited time...we had to gamble with IRR/Quasi...luckily we were successful in loosing the splotches, bt got a few flicker that were easy to fix. though i dont know if this would work on other projects in the future.

Very nice! Reminds me of the old pepsi twist commercials. It would probably looked more snappy at 170%-200% speed.

I personally did not like the concept if it was supposed to gear towards exclusivity or glamour. On the contrary, a factory setting might be more appropriate for products that might involve some scientific or technical advantage over its competitors. isa pa for me, a factory setting means that the product could be reproduced - a little irony there.

So just allow me a to comment on the animations:

Hats off for the creativity in designing the machineries (except for the 80'sh monitor screen) but I wish there was some evident spring movement and holds for each object that rotate or push in our out. The problem with mechanics in cg is that they tend to be too linear. A bit of spring or "tame" would have made it looked more snappier and exxageratedly mechanical at least in my own humble taste.

Anyways, it's a class of its own. Three weeks made your team already a winner!

UPDATE: the project was approved just today and we did not have any revisions! Congrats to all team members!

v_wrangler: thank you very much for appreciating and for the insights. Its somehow weird sometimes how clients decide on the audience they wish to attract. On this case, only the rich who can afford a titanium card that has a worth of about 3-5 million dirhams. I guess its one of those limited edition Ferrari cars...the only difference i guess, is that you can utilize the car..but for a card? hehehe...its just crazy.

the original story board was on a big factory with large pounding machines and big rollers, and stock footage of workers pouring molten metal...and the client required us to make it look exclusive...then out of the blue, the client decided to make the entire shot CG...hehehe...thats when all hell broke loose...even argued with my PM that its too much and i was not sure we could pull it off.

as you mentioned, its an irony because the factory scene itself does portrays the idea of it being massed produced...that is why resulted to trying to do a laboratory scene to make it look more sophisticated and exclusive...we left the factory/foundry scene only for the pouring and making of the metal. also, thanks for the heads up about the machinery movement...i guess it could use more spring like movement and a bit more snappier...

producing the scenes in max was one thing, but rendering the whole length was the hardest part. With high render times, the render farm did save our butts, it was a life saver...good thing we were able to acquire the resources in time.

honestly, at the start of the project, i wanted to kill myself....hehehe...

I was astonished how the mechanical robotic arm animated works, the material and textured were well detail, also the camera depth of field when it focus on the subject nicely executed. I like the storyboard ingeniusly creative, just that metal forge pouring quite obscure(I prefer na malapot sana yung pagkabuhos parang pouring cream). everything is perfect.

Someday sana magrecognize sa media(tv) how talented the group of cgpinoys. partyna

i3dness: thanks...noted about the molten metal...a little tweaking on the simulation might just do the trick...thanks for the heads up...it would have been great if more time was given...hehehe..but lets face it, most of the time(if not all of the time), we are always in a very tight deadline..hehehe..

@vitamins - dont worry with the deadlines, as long as you got warrenziggy, everythings gonna be alright! trademark model, tsaka animation yung kay warren, sa robotic arm, alam ko kasi may ginawa syang katulad nyan matagal na, yung pinapanalunan nya ng Web Awards.

Galing din ng Rendering, tsaka Compositing mo! Ayos! gawa na kayo ng Full Length 3D animation movie ha, tapos sali nyu ako, nyahahahaha!
