Design Concept -
Bahay kubo of the future should be high rise, lack of available land and big population growth will be an age of high rise buildings which are sustainable and can accomodate planting, sunlighting at any floor. self sustaining intelligent structure with natural landscapes at every floor. each unit will have a green house to produce vegetation.

( meron na kong design concept - sakto tong competition na to tambay lang ako ngayong mga araw . hehehehe, sketches ongoing. )

im reminded of Quobo art very modern. so ngayon dapat hindi na bahay kubo rather Bahay Quobo.

sir post ko lang to regarding sa design ng future bahay kubo....the word kubo means cube..so in english cube house....pero hindi nmn necessary na cubed housing units. My point is dapat sa designing phase the designer should consider his design to be tropical and ergonomic...dapat passive cooling hindi gagamit ng mechanical cooling and ventilating. Sa materials especially sa interior dapat yung mga localy acquired at readly available. Yung bahay na bato is compact ang design pero tropically suited parin. Mali yung idea ng iba na pag mainit eh mainit din ang interior ng bahay na bato.....ang bahay na bato kasi comprices of 2 levels. Yung lower level is made from rock ngunit hindi ito yung habitable area...mostly mga farming materials ang nilalagay dun at hindi mainit dun kasi nuong spanish period every household me sariling hand pumps at located yun sa lower level ng bahay nila which makes the lower level cool. Yung upper part namn is made of wood kaya hindi maiinit. Cross ventilated kasi meron yung mga ventenilias and other air passages which make the bahay na bato cool in summer and warm in the rainy season. And common sense, kung mainit tirhan ang bahay na bato,why would the spaniards design a warm house in hot province such as ilocos di ba.
Eto lastly the most important one. Philippines is known for its originality parang yung jeep,kaya pag sinabi bahay kubo..pinas yan kumbaga parang pag sinabi din taj mahal=india.Although ang theme is future design dapat incorporate natin ang nationalism natin sa design......dapat pagnakita ng ibang lahi yung sturcture sasabihin nila "hey thats Philippine Architecture".
We should make our arhcitecture known.......Philiipine architecture hindi lang yung gagayahin natin yung renaissance or classical na sobrang gasgas na. Dapat pagnasa era na tayo na hi-tech architecture incorporated parin ang nationality natin...."gawang orig at gawang pinoy!"
