Re: VRAYFUR CARPET
As requested by some CGP members...
I would like to share a carpet tutorial approached on how to use mattes (gray scales) and try to post a very simple images and not technically hi-tech and modern as shown in the picture above but to give a basic idea as to how you can control and manage the growth... so start viewing the pics...
my gradient mattes done in PS and as for mapping example, you can create your own custom design:

custom matte

simple vrayfur was applied on left plane and none on the right... and plane with very high segments (about 50 segments on length and width)

this is to show you how gradient map on left plane was applied and vrayfur plane on right, see result on right.

another gradient map example on left plane, see result plane with vrayfur on right.

custom map example on left plane, see result on right.
(note: you can create your own design or even apply the preset available on map browser.
It will all depend on your mapping color value (black-and-white color scheme)...
the more white means more dense, height, bend and so on)

parameter setting
(note you need to select first the vrayfur and apply the gradient map unto the density map (mono).
See result by test rendering
setting 1

setting 2
another matte

setting 3
to custom map

Also, try to combine other mapping parameters like bend, initial, length, thickness and gravity by applying mattes and adjust them to your liking....
ALways remember, with high segments... the better and denser your fur will be but render takes long too....
so keep on eye on your parameters para mabilis pa rin ang renderin flow.
And that's my simple idea on how to create... hope you appreciate the simple task..
you can still elaborate your settings and explore more on your own desire... pls place your comments...hope it helps..!!!

cheers
