for me depends...if asking a girl ," do you have a brother? Is he older? he's not in the army or something is he?"

if it's a really hot chick , "do you have a sister like you too? Do both of you do group _____ ? (you fill in the blank, or something like that)"

if it's a guy --- I really wont bother to ask :p

('Cuz for me, I mean, really,..is there a point to knowing in which order the siblings are born? So i guess, that's why the Westerners really don't have such questions, and we've never really heard of the proper English translation. Imho, the phil. language is too flowery...or just got many chit-chat to say to the sense of losing the point of it, or going around in big circles. But don't get me wrong, it's still a very powerful n' lovely language...(mahina lang ako dito -_-; 'nuff talk..do the walk! lol)

I guess the westerners don;t really bother to ask much about once siblings, hence the reason why the is no formal way of addressing such in those places.
