in my 'other' point of view though....what exactly is "global competitiveness" eh? In some sense, for me i couldn't really give a rat's ass about this term. (I'm like , ' globa wha?..global cometiti -- wtf?! lol )
As far as my limited knowledge knows,...Pinoys (as individuals) are so competitive, they can adapt and become good. So good even that they transfer/ migrate to these countries that are in the top 10 of this "global competitiveness." Cant blame 'em... like as mentioned above part of it is due to the corruption. So it's like a catch 20-20 thing.
Global Competitiveness "assesses the ability of countries to provide high levels of prosperity to their citizens. This in turn depends on how productively a country uses available resources. Therefore, the Global Competitiveness Index measures the set of institutions, policies, and factors that set the sustainable current and medium-term levels of economic prosperity."
Well, with that in mind, it's not all sad.
Would it be right to say that, yeah...our country sucks in some policies etc...such that to prosper in the Phil would be so difficult. BUT if these citizens were to go out of the country, then they have a higher chance of prospering?
So in a bizarre point of view even...considering that because of these 'extreme' circumstances in the Phil., it somehow molds the character of Pinoys to become competititve and be a survivor....so if we asses the Philippines on a different criteria..i'd still say, it's right there on top of this "Global Competitiveness"

i think you got a point there pineapple. maybe the reason for this low ranking thing is we pinoy act as an individual not as a whole.

sadly, almost of the filipinos walang paki kung saan man ang ranking natin sa kung kahit saang bagay.. i hate when almost of the filipino(masang pilipino) when theyre saying "Hindi pa naman tayo kulelat!."..
