vray vs scanline

vray vs scanline

Ano kya ang landas na aking tatahakin? Pinagaralan ko this past few weeks ang v-ray, for a change, and apply it on a project. Then last night I tried render the same scene using sa mas gamay kong Defult Scanline ng 3dsmax.
Eto ang aking natuklasan: c&c are welcome.
1. Vray has easier light setup, let it do the GI. While in Scanline I have more controls over lights and shadows.
2. Vray is superb in reflections and refractions; raytracing in scanline is stuborn.
3. In scanline, you wont have to worry about blotchness and Antialiasing.
4. Love the displacement map and vray fur.
5. Because there is no need to compute for GI, Scanline renders much faster than Vray.
6. It took me almost a year to get better result in Scanline rendering, and a few weeks for vray.

Re: vray vs scanline
you can always use both bro. maganda itong scanline mo for animation, lalo na dito na halos pareho lang sila ng vray. I can say na versatile na ang renders mo ngayon, which is a very big advantage. keep it up bro and thanks for sharing!

Re: vray vs scanline
You'll do well with scanline - I still use it from time to time. Lalo na for effects and particle work.
You can of course get the free version of vray to use as a replacement for raytracing.
The default rayfx raytracer is slow when it comes to aliasing - one tip is to turn them off but use the material supersampling. More or less the difference isn't noticable.
For exterior shots and if you find yourself needing some pseudo GI - try mixing it with skylight. Or use - domelighting...
Let's try scanlining some random scenes again soon.

@ Sir bokkins
Thanks, as always, eager to exlpore, inspired by the masters of cgpinoy.
@ yaug_03
Salamat po
@v_wrangler
I will take note of that sir.
@jjai
Perhaps tama ka sir, strugling pako magbalanse ng parameters sa vray.
@remlex
thanks bro,
@marcelinoiii
salamat, mas ok un sir, advantage din sa akin na may knowledge akong konti sa mentalray kya mabilis ko ntutunan vray.
they share some common aspect regarding GI, Sampling, antialiasing, etc.
@all
share ko narin po light setup ko ng scanline, one technique to fake GI is to use "ambient only" on strategically positioned lights, to generate bounce light.
