Welcome to this conference
Since no one has posted yet - I'l ltake the privilege and say hello to everyone who uses After Efects.
For post DOF, the standard lens blur in AF is heaven sent. Combine it with depth maps (zdepths) and you now have an interactive post bokeh.

Re: Welcome to this conference
Thanks for jumpstarting the thread Roy. Let me share some basic stuff we did for the Racetrack animation.
We relied a lot on AE for most post process instead of rendering motion blurs and in 3D program camera shakes. I am explaining some stuff here with the assumption that you have at least some knowledge how to import, scale, position etc in AE. And also how to create masks.
For this example, I'll share the car driver's POV sequence. There are 2 passes of renders here, 1 sequence for the road alone, and 1 sequence for the F1 car.

To add a better notion of movement, the road layer is duplicated and applied a radial/zoom blur.

Composite with all layers

Work Area Snapshot: (click to expand)

Camera shake, basic method:
1. Create a null object
2. Link all moving layers to the null object
3. Alt-click on the position parameter in the null object to expand the expression bar
4. Type "transform.position.wiggle(2,2)" - this tells the null object to "wiggle" 2 pixels wide and 2 pixels high at various intervals.
5. Since the position will shift, to avoid blank areas on all sides of the composition, it is advised to scale up the null object. For this example I used 103% for both axes.
Hope this helps.

Re: Welcome to this conference
Wat you're asking for is camera tracking. While AF can do 2D tracks quite nicely, you'd need a 3d camera tracking software to match your 3d camera to the movements of the camera in the footage.

Re: Welcome to this conference
No it's not a plugin.
Its a totally different application. The process is often referred to as " Camera Tracking" or "Matchmoving"
There are many specialized applications in the market like PFTrack, boujou, syntheyes, etc.
In our studio we use Syntheyes.
The workflow is as follows: Load the footage in any of these matchmove apps, track, export the computed camera data to your host applications. Import camera data and render from that camera.
If you tracked succesfully, you can composite the rendered image to the same footage and you get a good matchmove composite.
It's a pretty complicated discipline and it would probably take me months to explain them here.
try to google, matchmove or 3d camera tracking.

Yes of course, that's the key. Research and learning is everything - I am sure the documents you'll find in the net can explain them better than me. Goodluck.

Re: Welcome to this conference
Galing ng racetrack, nice and clean.

may i ask , if theres someone who have a complete list of "how to" AE expressions? if theres any,,,,,,,and how it is applied? ,,, and how does it work.................... i think this would be of great help to other ae users... thanx in advance
