Photoshop Portraits

Post by lobsang rampa on Mon Jan 11, 2010 8:46 am

I think you have a making of a good illustrator or a digital matte painter. You can mimic life and make them appear as real.

Skins tones are superb - I wouldn't have thought they were painted if not for close inspection. My only comments are Hendrix's left nose which makes em appear frontal when he was facing a few degrees away from the camera.

If you are able to use this skill and talent of yours to compliment cg (as a texture or as a matte painting) then I bet the opportunities that will come before you will expand.

To be honest, I am not a fan of your 3d works but it doesn't mean I do not believe that you cannot conquer them. While I am not "presently" a fan of the preso series, I am a fan from today of your 2D digital paintings.

I have suggested complimenting cg with this talent of yours for painting because that is the easiest path if you want to use your talent professionaly. Many people are able to paint realistic portraits (that look like photos) but fail to realize that in the real world, while people may go gaga over it - you cannot win over a digital photograph which takes a fraction of the time compared to if you actually paint the same thing.

Of course the playing fields will be different if you paint something or somebody that is non-existent and still make them look photoreal. That of course will define your uniqueness and marketability.

Enjoy your talent and who knows in the future, you can even earn more money from it.

Goodluck.
