Re: ERICK : CG|Pinoy Logo Design Competition
Nagyon ko lang napasin - pero kahit late na since may logo na ang cgp. Personally and no offense meant - para syang sampayan. Its out of balance - parang matutumba.
I do not knwo the rules of the competition as I never read it - but if you are intending to be graphical, sometimes it helps to design in a graphic design point of view. Like - will this logo become effective when printed on a lettlerhead? Will I be able to design editorials with this logo on a masthead? In short - will this logo have visual impact and at the same be useful in a true to life design setting? Thnk of the logo on a letterhead, on a poster, on somebody's forehead, etc.
Design is a very difficult discipline and concepts can be expressed in various ways - the only way to make a choice is to select the one that makes a balance in terms of staging, composition and layout. I wouldn't mention the most imprtant part - how the idea will look when it comes to print!
So the bottomline is like all bottomlines - and it is not specific to kabayan ericks'S design at all - design an idea that works!
And BTW, and this is just my personal preference - I hate the PINOY thing!
Its about time we go global - Pinoy this and that is a thing of the past - we're just conditioned to think that the word PINOY is synonimous to being nationalistic. It isn't. Let us be pinoy but be global so that we can compete with the rest of the world!
The new revolution for us the artist is not about being pinoy, or being pinoy-japanese, or filipino-american or pinoy-singaporean. Design is global. It goes beyond national boundaries! It is about being pinoy in your heart and not losing the never ending quest for perfection.
We will only be good as our last render. So always make sure it looks GOOD.
Amen.
